M’sia accord in digital form
KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans interested in looking up the Malaysia Agreement and Federal Constitution digitally for research or knowledge can take advantage of a free offer by lawguru.education website founder Marcel Jude (pic).

The Malaysia Agreement or the Agreement relating to Malaysia between United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Federation of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore was the agreement which combined the nations of North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore with the existing states of the Federation of Malaya, the resulting union being named Malaysia.

The Federal Constitution of Malaysia is the supreme law of Malaysia. The Constitution establishes the Federation as a constitutional monarchy having the Yang di-Pertuan Agong as the Head of State.

It provides for the establishment and the organisation of three main branches of the government: the bicameral legislative branch called the Parliament, which consists of the House of Representatives (in Bahasa Malaysia, Dewan Rakyat) and the Senate (Dewan Negara); the executive branch led by the Prime Minister and his Cabinet Ministers; and the judicial branch headed by the Federal Court.

Marcel, a lawyer himself said the offer is a gift to all Malaysians and especially Sabahans and Sarawakians to promote love, knowledge and dedication to our nation.

“For the first time you can receive free the 1st Digital Version of the Malaysia Agreement and the Federal Constition.

“Both documents are packaged in a special software which will be installed in your desktop or laptop computer.”

Both constitutional documents are constructed in a full searchable database to which you can add your own notes, comments and opinions and they come free with an embedded search engine.

Marcel who developed the contents of the software said:

“I wanted this Merdeka and Malaysia day celebrations to be extra special and memorable so I needed to develop something Malaysian that was from the past and still relevant to the present and will be the cornerstone of our Nation in the future.

“There was nothing more relevant to the Past which is the Malaysia Agreement 1963 that established our Nation of Malaysia and embodies the present in the working and application of the Federal Constitution which is the supreme law of the land and applied in the Courts and Parliament of today.”

However the legacy of these monumental documents must be preserved, promoted and protected for our future and what better way to do that than to develop a totally digital indexed version of both documents since our nation is moving towards the Digital Era.”

Both the documents which is not in pdf but a searchable database will be installed free and the promotion begins Aug 31 and end on Malaysia Day Sept 16.

If interested to get the free installation send an email to [email protected] or go to the website lawguru.education and look for the Request Email button. Click the button and type your request and submit.

Marcel said in the last decade or so there has been great renewed interest in the Malaysia Agreement especially in Sabah and Sarawak.

There is now political and judicial acceptance of the Malaysia Agreement.

At the same time the Agreement which is the founding document of Malaysia co-exists with the Federal Constitution the supreme law of the land.

The digital version of both documents makes it more accessible and more readable and more relevant to our present and future Malaysians.

It is also to show that Malaysia as a nation has arrived in the Digital Era.
