Six nabbed in Keningau over Syabu, dangerous weapons
KENINGAU: Police arrested six men, including four foreigners, for having syabu and dangerous weapons during Ops Sarang at an unnumbered house near Water Tank Batu 22, Mapila Village, Sook, Aug 29.

District Police Chief, Deputy Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain said 22 packets of syabu weighing 54.4gm were also seized.

“Also seized during the raid were two homemade guns or bakakuk, a machete and a samurai sword,” he said, Tuesday.

Shahrudin said all the suspects were aged between 17 and 30 years old.

He said the raid was conducted by the Keningau Police’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department with members of the Sook Police Station led by Inspector Firdaus upon a tip-off.

He said investigations will be conducted under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for the death sentence, Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which provides for a fine of not more than RM100,000 or five years jail, or both, and Section 8 (a) of the Weapons Act 1960.

Shahrudin said this is the first case in Sook this year involving the seizure of drugs under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. All the suspects have been remanded for further investigations.
