TENOM: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal approved a fire and rescue station on a 1.5-acre site and a police station on 4.3 acres in Kemabong township.
He said the government is concerned about the development and wellbeing of the State, especially infrastructure development as Sabah is the richest State in its production of natural resources.

Shafie said this at a meet-the-people session with leaders in conjunction with the Ilau Festival in Kemabong, recently, which was attended by about 10,000 people.
In addition, he said a development plan and the agricultural production blueprint will be launched soon.
“The people need to realise that the government is in the midst of planning the State’s development and is focusing on downstream activities, including creating employment opportunities to the people and youths who have completed their tertiary studies.
“Hence, granting 82 shoplots in Kemabong is one of the government’s proactive measures to encourage the people to engage in business.

“Nonetheless, I hope the implementation of Phase 1 involving 41 shoplots would be able to empower and encourage the Murut people to venture into businesses,” he said.
By having the shoplots units here, Shafie hoped that the Murut people would not be left behind in the business field and enjoy development given by the government.

He said the people should not make culture, ethnicity or religion as a field of struggle that could cause disunity among the people of various races and religions.
For example, he said arguing and disputing about political ideology and racial sentiment may cause peace and wellbeing not to be fully enjoyed.
