MANILA: A magnitude 5.5 quake shook the province of Quezon on Friday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.In its initial earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said the temblor hit 40 kilometres northeast of Burdeos, Quezon at 4:28 pm.

The earthquake of tectonic origin had a depth of 10 kilometres, it added.
Phivolcs also reported that the tremor was felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV – Jose Panganiban, Camarines Norte; Quezon City
Phivolcs warned that aftershocks may be expected from the earthquake.
It also said the tremor is likely to cause damage in affected areas. Aside from Quezon City, the quake was also felt in other portions of Metro Manila, including Cainta, Makati, Pasay, and Muntinlupa.
