New car parks for all main Sabah hospitals

KENNGAU: All major hospitals in the State will have a new car park in the next two years, said State Health and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung (pic).
He said car park problems in hospitals in the State have become a nagging concern.

“My Ministry intends to build a car park building which at the same time will house dormitories for patients’ families on the upper floor of the building.
“The design and construction is underway and will take two or three weeks to complete,” he said.
He hoped the people would be patient while his Ministry worked out a solution, as it was not a simple task.
He said his Ministry required co-operation from the Federal Health Ministry.

“So, we have to work hand in hand to make this project successful. My Ministry so far is working well with the federal side. We are shall moving forward, so give me time,” he said.
On the upgrading of hospitals and clinics in the State, Poon said this was a necessity for the people of Sabah.

He said his Ministry since last year had spent RM25 million to upgrade hospitals and clinics and will seek additional funding besides finding out what other necessities and priorities.

“I cannot set that amount in the State. What is important now is what we want to do and hope they will channel the provisions we are asking for Sabah,” he said.
“All hospitals and clinics in Sabah have a problem, but I think most importantly we give priority to what is needed and the service requires additional funding,” he said.
