SESB contractor has restored the affected pole in kg Vasai to upright position.
The work to restore a leaning electricity transmission pole on a slope in Kampung Vasai, Ramayah, Penampang, was carried out immediately by the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) when notified about it by Hotline on Sept 2.
Apart from setting it to the upright position, the workers also pruned some leafy tree branches and cleared creepers that got entangled with the high-tension power lines in the area.

A concerned villager had voiced his concerns which was reported in the Hotline on Sept 5 under the heading “Electrocution risk from fallen SESB pole in P’pang.”
According to the villager, some of the live cables that the pole was supporting were lying on the ground, close to the roadside where pedestrians usually walk past to reach their respective destinations.
A SESB spokeswoman, when contacted on Sept 6, said the maintenance work was only completed on the following day as it covered a vast area of the village.
“We have fortified the base of the pole with concrete and also checked the conditions of the rest of our poles along that slope,” she added.
