The tenant of a Luyang home has been asked to stop feeding the strays in his area, after some of these dogs ran out of the premises and went after a woman who was walking past. The pedestrian fell and hurt herself while trying to get away from three canines.ADVERTISEMENT
She spoke out about the irresponsible attitude of the man whom she thought was their owner.
The woman claimed that this individual merely stood inside the open gate to his home and watched as the dogs got closer and closer to her, even though she cried out for help.
She said an elderly man, who happened to be walking by, came to her rescue, chasing the dogs away.
The injured woman provided Hotline with the time and date of the incident, as well as the location of her house from which the canines emerged.ADVERTISEMENT
This information was forwarded to City Hall. A spokesman for the agency said its staff went to the home in question shortly thereafter and spoke to the occupant.
“They were made to understand that neither the home nor the dogs belonged to him,” he said.

“The individual had been providing the strays with food for some time as he had special bowls for this purpose.”
He said the tenant was advised to make the canines his pets by obtaining licences for them.
“Because he was unwilling to do this, our personnel instructed him to cease his feeding activities as the strays had become a public nuisance.”
GOM of Luyang said she sprained her wrist and bruised one of her thighs because of the fall.
“Fortunately, a senior citizen, who was going on foot, saw me trying to scramble away from the dogs,” she said.
“He opened the umbrella he was carrying and scared off the canines which ran back into the house from where they came.”
Gom said she went to seek medical treatment for her injuries.
“After I left the doctor’s office, I returned to the house where the dogs were being reared.
“I asked the man, whom I had seen earlier, how he could have failed to intervene.
“To my amazement he responded: ‘Itulah, Aunty, siapa suruh kamu pakai baju merah?’ (That’s why, Aunty, who asked you to dress in red).”
Gom said he did not even apologise for what happened or reassure her that, in future, he would try to keep his pets in line.
“I hope the local authorities will crack down on the dogs here before anyone else gets injured or worse,” she said.
The spokesman said City Hall’s dog-control unit had been keeping an eye on the housing road since the earlier inspection.
“So far, our workers have succeeded in catching one stray,” he said on September 13. He advised dog-owners to register their pets with the agency and to keep their canines inside their compounds.
“They should not leave their front gate open so that their canines can run out and inconvenience the public.
“The unit will not hesitate to catch any canines found wandering unsupervised on the housing roads there.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
