SANDAKAN: Celebrating the Moon Cake festival is important for the Chinese as it not only preserves and pass down the culture of the Chinese tradition, but also provides an opportunity for the multicultural community to understand and accept this cultural custom.Sabah People’s Health and Wellness Minister Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung said the Moon Festival is one of the five main celebrations of Chinese tradition held every year.ADVERTISEMENT
“Through the festivities, various races and peoples can join together in special activities such as enjoying a beautiful full moon, enjoying delicious food such as moon cakes and fruits.
“In addition, activities together can foster closer brotherhood and friendship to foster mutual love,” he added.
He said this when attending a Mooncake Celebration Dinner at the SMJK Tiong Hua Student Activities Center on Saturday night.
