Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Football Association (Safa) acting President Datuk Peter Anthony (pic) said there is no reason for the players to let their guard down in their final Group C Malaysia Cup match against Perak at Likas Stadium tonight (Wednesday) starting at 9pm.

The result from the match will not have any impact on Sabah Tambadaus’ status in the competition, as they are already out of the running for a last-eight berth after managing only one win from their opening five matches.

Peter said despite that, it is important for the players to carry out their responsibility to try and win in every single game they play.

“The task against Perak tomorrow is the same even though we are already out of the competition and the match is merely to complete the schedule.

“To play in a match with no significance doesn’t mean that the players can take it for granted. It is also important for them to show the right attitude and I would like to see that from them tomorrow,” he said on Tuesday.

He hoped Perak, who are second in the table standing and are chasing the final quarterfinal berth with Penang, will not get an easy ride.

“If the players have the right attitude and play their hearts out for a win, I am sure Perak will not find it easy against us.

“It is good to finish the campaign with a win and it is also the final opportunity this season for the team to show that they can compete with a Super League team, and at the same time the players can also show us that they are Super League materials for next season.”

Meanwhile, head coach Jelius Ating is set to start the same 11 players that played against Penang on Saturday.

“We are unlikely to make a change apart from Rahman Shah Marajeh and Aguinaldo Mendes. I am still undecided who will start among the two while the rest will likely remain the same.

“Whoever plays tomorrow, I am sure will give their very best to get a win for the team,” he said at the team’s final training session on Tuesday.

The probable starting line-up are Rozaimi Rohim, Rawilson Batuil, Park Tae Su, Randy Baruh, Evan Wensley, Mohd Azizan Nordin, Mafry Balang, Alto Linus, Maxsius Musa, Rodoljub Paunovic, Rahman or Mendes.
