Tourist guide is found safe
LAHAD DATU: A 43-year-old tourist guide who went missing while taking two tourists for jungle trekking at Sungai Kapur areas, near Evans Hill, on Monday was found safe by Marine Police.

Sabah Region Four Marine Police Force (MPF) Commander, ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said Saharrudin Zakaria was found at about 50 metres from where he was reported missing.

Mohamad Pajeri said prior to the incident, the victim told the tourists at 3pm to start their jungle trekking and that he wanted to go to toilet.

However, the victim did not return to the area until the tourists finished their activity. The MPF was alerted and a patrol boat was sent to search for the victim at 4.20pm.

He said the operation was accompanied by three Forestry Department personnel. The team went to search for the victim from the river bank to the end of the river but failed to locate him.

“About 5.40pm, one of MPF members fired several shot as signal at the areas where the man reported missing and few minutes later, they heard a voice from the forested area.

“The team headed to the direction and managed to found the victim at about 6.10pm,” he said, adding that the victim was weak when they found him.

Mohamad Pajeri said the victim was taken to the Forestry Department post for further action. He thanked all agencies that involved in the operation that successfully tracking down and rescue the victim.
