Murder: Filipino illegal, 87, charged

Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino octogenarian was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday with murdering a 32-year-old man in Likas recently.Paperless Marujun Apas, 87, is accused of committing the offence on one Mohd Hishamudin Abdullah at 1.30pm on Sept 5 at a house in Kg Cempaka Baru, Likas.

However, no plea was recorded from Marujun after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie.
Marujun is facing the death sentence if found guilty under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Inspector Suzie @ Stephanie Kupit applied for a new mention date pending the chemist’s report and offered no bail to Marujun.
Suzie also informed the court that Marujun was earlier charged in the Sessions Court for staying in the State illegally and was jailed four months.

Stephanie fixed Nov 13 for mention and ordered Marujun be remanded further.
Marujun was not represented.

In another case, a part time bird nest collector claimed trial to having a counterfeit stamp paraphernalia with an intention to commit forgery.
Wahub Ahmad, 51, is accused of having a “Salinan Disahkan Benar” (Certified True Copy) stamp and a stamp pad.
The stamp include on it - Jamaludin Bin Hj Daski, PPR (Perkahwinan, Perceraian dan Rujuk) Assistant Registrar, Jheains Semporna and date.
He allegedly committed the offence at 8.10am on Sept 3 in a unit at sixth floor of Block B, PPR Taman Seri Serigai, Jalan Tombovo Papason in Putatan.
The charge under Section 473 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years and liability of a fine on conviction.
The prosecution proposed bail at RM5,000.
Counsel Sylvester Kuan, representing Wahub applied for a lower bail amount on the grounds that he is married with four children and that he pose no flight risk as he is living in Sabah.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The court fixed Oct 17 for case management and released Wahub on a bail of RM3,000 in two sureties.
