Water seeping into KK beauty salon
Rain water seeps through the holes in this building ledge after utility cables were laid there in 2017.
A BEAUTY salon owner in the city is at her wits’ end over the leaking concrete ledge at the front door of her premises at Jalan Gaya.

This issue was highlighted to Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) in March 2017, when the latter first lodge her complaint to Hotline. However the problem still prevailed until this juncture. She bemoaned the water seepage through some holes on the ledge every time it rains as it has blown the electrical circuitry inside the light display panel for the shop.

“There’s rain water pooling on my front door as well,” stressed KWAN, the salon owner, who first noticed the leakage on the ledge when she heard noises of drilling works at the above floor of the building block. According to her, the concrete ledge has never leaked prior to the drilling works upstairs. To her surprise, the ledge was drilled to make way for some utility cables to run its path to the subscriber at the above floor. “They can do whatever they want but they must ensure they won’t inconvenient other people,” she added.

She said the rain water would continue to damage the light panel should the leakage on the ledge had not been sealed. “The water that pooled on my front door will make the area slippery for everyone who walks into my shop as well,” she lamented, who urge the relevant utility firm, whom she believed to be TM contractor who came to install the Unifi internet cables to subscribers in that building block, to address the problem soon as possible. A TM spokeswoman, when contacted recently, assured that the complaint would be investigated promptly. “We need to check on it first before we can establish whether it was done by our vendor or contractor,” she added.

The outcome would be submitted to Hotline later.  (OV)
