A MANGGATAL driver has expressed concern about the telephone wires pinned under a fallen tree for close to a week.

PETRA said the pole, which supported the wires, was dragged down when the tree collapsed during inclement weather recently.

She said she contacted TM several times about the pole and wires.

“The staff assured me, each time, that action will be taken but, so far, nothing has been done,” she said on September 18.

She bemoaned the hazards the fallen wires posed to road-users living off Jalan Poring- Poring on Kokol hill.

“Motorists have to drive carefully round the pole and telephone wires which have been weighed down by the tree,” she said.

“Drivers risk having their vehicles hit from behind as they decelerate to swerve around these obstructions.”

She hoped TM would act on this problem before any accident occurred.

“It is in the company’s interest to attend to this problem before the telephone services to subscribers in the area are disrupted as a result of this incident.”

Petra provided Hotline with the location of the fallen poles. This information was forwarded to TM on May 14. A spokesman for the firm said the management would have to verify the customer’s claims.

“Should it prove to be true, we will arrange to have the necessary repairs carried out as soon as possible,” he said. (SS) Picture shows TM cables pinned down by the fallen tree on Kokol hill.
