22 teams to feature in KKHA nine-a-side tourney

KOTA KINABALU: The second edition of the Kota Kinabalu Hockey Association (KKHA) 9-a-side tournament will be held at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex synthetic hockey pitch this weekend.
The competition will feature a total of 22 teams, with 17 men and five women teams including one from Sarawak.

The men’s category will be divided into four groups with a round-robin format in the group stages, and only those who finish in the top two positions in each group will make it into the knockout stage.
Group A comprised of SSMS (Sports School Malaysia Sabah) A, Onex Sarawak Warrior, SESB HT and Saga KK A with SSMS B, Tamparuli HT, PSKPP KK and Labuan Hockey Club in Group B.
SSMS C, PSKPP Ranau, PSKPP Tuaran and The Steps KM are in Group C while SSMS D, Saga Sandakan, Kota Belud, UiTM Sabah and Saga KK B are in Group D.
There will be a one-group competition for the women category to be played based on a round-robin format.
