SSMS dominate KKHA 9-a-side tourney

KOTA KINABALU: SSMS (Sports School Malaysia Sabah) dominated the second edition of the Kota Kinabalu Hockey Association (KKHA) 9-a-side tournament by taking both the men and women titles at the Kota Kinabalu Sports Complex synthetic hockey pitch, Sunday.
In an all-SSMS affair, their team ‘B’ edged team ‘D’ 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw at the end of normal time.

Earlier in the semi-final, SSMS ‘B’ defeated Saga Sandakan 3-2 also on penalties, while SSMS ‘D’ scrapped through with a 1-0 win over SSMS.
Meanwhile, SSMS Alpha beat SSMS Lupa 1-0 with the only goal scored by Ermah Marin @ Misin in the women’s final, and finishing in third place were SSMS Leka.
The competition organised by KKHA featured a total of 22 teams, with 17 men and five women teams including one from Sarawak.

There was only a single -group competition for the women category which was also based on a round-robin format.
