Indonesian All Stars take Under-14 crown

KOTA KINABALU: Indonesia Junior League (IJL) All Stars defeated MFC of the Philippines 1-0 in extra time in the final to take the Under-14 title of the Borneo Cup Football Championship at the Likas Stadium,n Saturday.
The Indonesian outfit, based in Jakarta, had lost to the same opponents in the preliminary stage in Group B but bounced back in the final to avenge their earlier 0-1 loss.

Both teams were unable to find the net in normal playing time where it ended goalless.
The deadlock was finally broken by the golden goal scored by Bagas Prayoga at the start of extra time featuring nine players against nine from each team.
Earlier in the semifinals, MFC defeated Tabs 3-1 while IJL All Stars beat fellow countrymen Indonesia Muda 3-0 in the other semifinal.
There was no play-off for the third and fourth place and it was based on the final group standing in the preliminary rounds.

Indonesia Muda with their 10 points accumulated in the group stage took the third spot while Tabs who only managed nine points had to settle for fourth.
Meanwhile, play-off matches were held to decide on the other positions, with the fifth place won by Adelaide City who beat BISP of Thailand 2-1.

Eighth place was won by DPM Sports School who beat Turf City of Australia 3-1 while Futbol Directions from the Philippines took the ninth spot by beating another Australian outfit Northern Inland 2-0.
The prizes were presented former Australian international Alan Davidson who once played for Pahang in the 90s.
