Charged with taking syabu for third time

KOTA KINABALU: A 28-year-old man was charged with taking syabu for the third time.

Mohd Khairul Nizzam Mohd Razali pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz to the charge against him on Tuesday.

He is accused of taking the drug at 1.20am on July 19 this year after his urine tested positive at the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department, here.

The charge stated that Mohd Khairul has two previous convictions for taking the drug.

The offence under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act and punishable under Section 39C(1)(a) of the same Act which provides a jail term of between five and seven years, and whipping, on conviction.

The court set Oct 17 for case management and no bail was offered to Mohd Khairul pending the date.

In another court, two men were jailed four month each for entering the State illegally.

They were Ridwan Nasir and Robin Azmi. Both of them pleaded guilty to entering the State illegally without any valid documents.

They were arrested during an operation conducted by the police at the city area after failing to produce their documents.

The court ordered the foreigners to serve the jail sentence from the date of their arrest on Sept 5 and 6 this year.

After completing their jail sentence, the foreigners were ordered referred to the Immigration Department for deportation.
