Swepa installation cum charity dinner on Nov 10

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Association (Swepa) aims to raise RM80,000 during its 13th Installation and Charity Dinner at The Magellan Grand Ballroom, Sutera Harbour Resort on Nov 10.

According to its President Lai Fur Nar, the association will donate RM10,000 to Sabah Autism Society (SAS) and the rest will be used to fund its programmes.

“SAS, founded a year ago, is in dire need of donation as the members are in the midst of setting up its first learning centre dedicated to autistic children in Sabah,” she said.

She said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal and his wife confirmed they would grace the occasion and witness the installation of the new executive committee for 2019-2021 term.

The upcoming installation dinner will introduce Lai, who is also General Manager (Technical and Process Improvement) at Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd, as the new president. 

Lai with her presidential tagline “In Tandem,” is taking over the helm from Datuk Aminah Ambrose, the immediate past president for 2017-2019.

Themed an evening in Atlantis, an underwater theme, the event will be showcasing an extravagant fashion show by the winner of The Outstanding Fashion Styling Award 2019 at the 72nd Cannes Short Film Festival in France, The MOD House from Kuala Lumpur. 

The fashion house which specialises in women career is attire, evening gowns and customised bridal gowns as well as men suits will be collaborating with two Swepa’s members, MJ by MUS and Chanteek Borneo.

“This is a wonderful way to come together and not only to support our Sabahan women but also to celebrate their success,” Lai said.

Meanwhile, Michelle de la Harpe-Germani, the organising chairperson for this year’s event said the event will start at 6.30pm and guests will have a chance to win return tickets for two people to Mulu sponsored by MASwings and take part in lucky draw as well as a best dressed competition.

“This year, we are pleased to announce that our event is supported by both the government and corporate bodies. Our main sponsors are MASwings, Cocoa Kingdom, The MOD House, The New San Geu Tai Band, MJ by MUS, Chanteek Borneo and Jdance Studio.
