MMEA seizes pump boat with 30kg of bombed fish

KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) seized a pump boat and 30kg of various fishes worth RM4,860, believed to have been bombed, in an “Op Gelora” in Tanjung Gaya, Karambunai, on Thursday.
MMEA Sabah Director Rear Admiral Kamaruszaman Abu Hassan said no arrest was made in the 8.35pm operation as the boat sped off towards the bank and the suspect escaped into the nearby forest.

“Upon inspection, various fishes believed to have been bombed and a detonator were found,” he said.
Meanwhile, in SANDAKAN, marine police seized an unregistered pump boat worth RM1,800 in Batu 3 at 10am.
Sabah (Region Four) Marine Police Chief Commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali said no arrest was made after the suspect on the boat escaped to a nearby mangrove area.

He said PPM members will continue to be committed in performing the tasks entrusted to them, especially in monitoring the State’s waters against unwanted elements like smuggling, kidnapping and cross-border crimes.
