KOTA KINABALU: Social media went abuzz when a video footage of what appeared to be a white-robed figure with long hair started making its round on the Internet.

The 30-second video taken during the night showed what looked like a person standing on the central market bridge, near Segama, here.

It was not immediately established what the individual who had his/her back to the camera was doing on the bridge at that hour.

The exact time and place in which the video was taken was also unknown at press time.

However, an audio recording of a woman’s voice accompanying the footage, suggested that a Pontianak (female vampire) is on the prowl in the city and that it could take the form of humans.

The video  garnered 308 comments and 291 shares since it was uploaded onto a Facebook page on Oct 12.

Nearly all of those who commented on the page took it in jest, with some even suggesting that it had been staged to seek attention.

A City Hall official when contacted said they have not received any report regarding the matter. Even City Police Chief ACP Habibi Majinji found it rather amusing when asked if there had been any police report lodged.

“We have not received any report on this,” he said.
