Indonesian with expired passport held

TAWAU: Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Deputy Director for Tawau, Commander Mohd Yusri Hussin, said they have arrested a 29-year-old Indonesian whose passport had expired from a passenger boat at Tanjung Salma waters, Sebatik island, Tuesday.
Yusri said a team detained a passenger boat while on patrol at 4.08pm when it was heading to the Tawau passenger boat pier from Sungai Haji Kuning, Sebatik Island.

Initial inspection found that the Indonesian boat skipper, 42, possessed a valid passport while the Indonesian passenger (the suspect) produced his expired passport. The boat together with a unit of tow engine were seized for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63. The overall seizure was worth about RM23,000.
