“In an age of rapid growth, we must embrace the use of media technology not only as a convenience but as one of the basic needs of every individual.
“The use of digital media is considered to be an efficient telecommunication trend of today’s society as well as a long – distance connector.
“It is not only easy, but the capital is also lower compared to the cost of renting premises,” he said, citing social media platforms which can be used to advertise products or sewing services regardless of place and time.
He said this when officiating the Community Service Sewing Programme and Extension Course Series 2 closing ceremony at the Community Hall, here, Wednesday.

Benedick said social media such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and Mudah.com, among others, is capable of expanding ones product to the global level.

“This is not impossible as there are many examples of women who are successful entrepreneurs in the field of clothing, cosmetics and so on,” he said.
However, he said, every dream must begin with a change in ones thinking, positive attitude, and willingness to acquire new knowledge throughout life.
“It should be noted that no matter how much the government provides training or help to improve people’s quality of life, it will not always be successful if people choose to stick to their old ways of thinking and attitude of not wanting to change.
“If such attitude and thinking are not altered, I believe our people will continue to remain out of the national development mainstream and miss the opportunities that the government has provided.
“To succeed, we have to step out of the habit of being too lazy to make an effort, procrastinate, being not punctual or continue having any habits that can hinder us from enjoying our desired success.
“Continue to gain knowledge by learning new things that will enhance your self-esteem because knowledge, leadership and communication are among the skills that a successful entrepreneur should have,” he said.

On the community service sewing course programme organised by his Ministry, he said it is part of the State Government’s effort to assist rural women, especially from housewives and single mothers to improve their skills in sewing and increase their family income without relying solely on help.
The 30-day basic sewing course and 25-day extension course involved 30 participants from the Liawan constituency.
