JCI Labuan awarded for cleanup project
LABUAN: JCI Labuan was recently awarded the Most Outstanding World Cleanup Day Project during the 2019 Junior Chamber International Malaysia Annual National Convention on October 10 to 12 hosted by JCI Kota Kinabalu at Klagan Hotel, 1 Borneo.

Over 800 JCI members from all over Malaysia and other Asian countries participated in this event.

JCI Labuan’s World Cleanup Day project which was held on 21st September 2019 was awarded as JCI Malaysia’s “Most Outstanding World Cleanup Day Project” in both national and area Sabah level.

Additionally, the organisation was also awarded two Local Organisation Award  including the 2019 JCI Malaysia 100pc Efficiency Award and the 2019 JCI Malaysia Local Organisation Star Rating – 3 Stars.

The Labuan chapter bagged two National Incentive Award for Most Outstanding World Cleanup Day Project and Top 5 Recruiter award won by Bernice Chin-Langshaw.

They also secure the Area Incentive Awards [Quarter 3] for Outstanding Local Secretary Q3 (Christy Sim), Top Recruiter Q3 (Bernice Chin-Langshaw), Inspiring Local President Q3 (Jefery Tan), Active New Member Q3 (Caris Teo),and Most Outstanding World Cleanup Day Project.

In a statement on Wednesday, JCI Labuan President Jefery Tan expressed his utmost gratitude to all sponsors and collaborating partners for their full support and assistance to JCI Labuan’s events throughout this year.

He also thanked his board of directors and members for their hard work and commitment towards creating impactful projects Labuan’s community.

JCI is a worldwide community of young active citizens aged 18 to 40 who share the belief that in order to create positive change, they must take collective action to improve themselves and the world. 

Engaging in activities ranging from sustainable development to international projects, they take responsibility for their communities while improving themselves through participation, leadership and action.

With about 5,000 Local Organisations, JCI’s international network connects nearly 200,000 active citizens in more than 100 countries. Members belong to a JCI Local Organisation where they implement local projects. 

Local Organisations are affiliated to National Organisations that coordinate activities on national and international scales. This structure forms a worldwide grassroots movement creating global impact through local action.
