Ten fined RM13,300 for traffic offences

KOTA KINABALU: Ten people were fined a total of RM13,300 at the Traffic Court for committing various traffic offences on Wednesday.
Eight of them namely Noraini Andau, Binnasir Balad, Deron J. Jasine, Mohd Naaim Adam, Kaven Kshan, Allan Salleh, Mohamad Arif Suppriadi and Juvenizhar Izzat pleaded guilty before magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to driving without driving licence.

They were ordered to pay a fine of RM1,000 or two weeks jail each.
The charge against them framed under Section 26 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a fine of up to RM2,000 or a jail term of up to three months or both, on conviction.
Meanwhile, two men, Elsos Uneh and Reynold Rolland admitted to drink driving.
Elsos was fined RM2,800 and Reynold was fined RM2,500 fine, both in default, one month jail.

The offence under Section 45A (1) of the same Act provides for a fine of up to RM6,000 or a jail term of up to 12 months, on conviction.
Traffic prosecuting officer Inspector Mohd Firdaus Che Mustafa told the court that the 10 were detained during separate operations here and in Penampang.

In another case, three men were penalised for committing drug-related offences.
Yusri Yahya, Mazlan Hamzah and Richard Gintin pleaded guilty to taking syabu at separate locations here and in Penampang, last month.

They were each fined RM2,700 or seven months jail.
Yusri was also fined RM3,500 or 12 months jail after he admitted to having 0.01gm of syabu on Aug 14 in Penampang.
