A KOLOMBONG rate-payer has expressed his displeasure about the nuisance created by the noise and foul smell coming from his neighbour’s pet.

NIC said the dog barked incessantly, disrupting the peace of the neighbourhood.

“It is especially trying on those nursing or looking after babies, as these young ones start crying because of the noise,” he said.

“Some of my neighbours are ill and infirm. They complain that it is difficult to take a nap during the day.”

He said the barking often deprived him and his family of a restful sleep at night.

“The owner keeps the dog in his/her compound, instead of a kennel, but fails to look after the canine.”

“The individual does not wash the dog regularly.”

On top of this, he said, the pet owner did not clean up after the canine.

“The dog’s faeces is strewn about the compound, making it most uncomfortable for me and my family to be outside our home for very long.

“We have to keep our doors and windows closed to prevent the stench from coming in.”

NIC said he was reluctant to entertain visitors in his home lest they remark about this problem.

He provided Hotline with the location of the home in question. This information was forwarded to City Hall.

A spokesman for the agency said it would have to verify these allegations.

“Our dog-control unit will check the house in question and speak to the occupant, before further action can be taken,” he said. (SS)
