KOTA KINABALU: The State Government received an overwhelming response for financial assistance from non-Islamic religious bodies and schools.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said such response is a good sign from the non-Muslim communities in the State who put their hopes on the State Government to practise fairness and equality so that everyone can feel the State’s prosperity.

“I was made to understand that the number of applications from religious bodies is 1,157 this year, involving an applied amount of RM179.03 million,” he said during the presentation ceremony for financial assistance to non-Islamic religious schools and bodies, here, Friday.
“The number of applications from non-Islamic schools is 300, involving RM106.80 million.
“This means the number of applications received and reviewed by the reviewing committee is 1,457, involving a total applied amount of RM285.8 million.”
However, Shafie said, only 956 application from bodies and schools had been approved.
