1.5kg cobra caught after face-off with cat

KOTA BELUD: Two friends could have been badly injured if not for their pet cat which risked its life in fighting off a venomous cobra which had slithered into their house at Kg Sembirai, here, Sunday.Aliehan Jaffar, 29, and his friend, who slept over at his (Aliehan) house, were startled awake on hearing the cat’s aggressive meowing about midnight.

He said they initially heard strange noises coming from the roof, which sounded like something moving on the zinc, but didn’t think much of it.
He said they went to bed, adding that he left his bedroom door ajar, something which he never did before.
The cat’s aggressive meows woke them up moments later, and upon switching on the lights, saw the feline in a face-off with the 1.8 metre long reptile.
They immediately called the Civil Defence Force for help.

Kota Belud Civil Defence Force Officer, Jimmy Alberto Tining, said their team rushed to the scene after being alerted about 12.35am.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.

The 1.5kg cobra, which was found in the bedroom, was subsequently caught (pic) and released into the forest far from the area.

Nobody was injured in the incident with operations ending about 1.04am.
