Footballer Kuzain needs to hurry back for SEA Games

PETALING JAYA: Time is running out for Wan Kuzain Wan Kamal (pic) who is making a name for himself in the United States of America to make his debut in the 2019 Philippines SEA Games with the national Under-22 (U-22) football squad.Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general, Stuart Ramalingam confirmed the Sporting Kansas City player did not face any documentation or release snag from his club.ADVERTISEMENT
Nonetheless, the process to ensure Wan Kuzain don the national jersey will take at least two weeks and FAM is now waiting for Wan Kuzain to return to Malaysia after the Major League Soccer (MLS) ends in early November.
Stuart said the short duration to manage the process would give negative impact from technical aspect.
“Wan Kuzain has Malaysian passport but it has expired and he needs to come back to renew it. It is still relevant for him to represent the country but the question is when is he coming back.
“If he returns late...obtain his passport and get down to playing in the team, it may complicate the situation in the team but I will leave the technical matter to the chief coach (Datuk Ong Kim Swee),” he told reporters here on Thursday.ADVERTISEMENT

Kim Swee also confirmed Wan Kuzain’s name in the list of players called up for centralised training scheduled from Nov 4 for the biennial Games.
