Ten prisons personnel charged with inmate's murder

Kota Kinabalu: Ten prisons personnel including an officer were charged at the Magistrate's Court here Tuesday with murdering an inmate at Kepayan Prison.

Barry Jipmon, Mohd Dzulfikri Mohd Safri, Farizan Mokri, Mohd Saiful Saidin, Amran Yasik, Ab Mutalib @ Talib Abd Rasul, Zerry Maidin, Tomy Momoh, Shahryll Nazry Wan Sofian and Muhammad Fazi Lakui, aged between 25 and 40, were brought before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles.‌

They were all jointly accused of murdering one Shainal Mukhtar, 36, at 4.30pm, on Oct 4.

However, no plea was recorded from them after the charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty, was read out to them.

The court set Nov 25 for mention of the case pending the availibity of the chemist's and forensic reports and ordered all accused to be remanded further.
