Duo held for having drugs in Lahad Datu

LAHAD DATU: Two men were detained by police for drug possession separately on Tuesday and Wednesday.
District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor said the first suspect, a 41-year-old local man was detained during an operation at Kampung Sungai Bilis, Tanjung Labian.

Nasri said the suspect was detained following a raid on an unnumbered house at about 3.30pm. Search conducted on the suspect later found a green case on his hand.
“The suspect was later ordered to open the case where police found a plastic packet containing substance believed to be Syabu weighing 5.10 gm.
“The suspect and the seizure worth RM765.50 were later brought to the Desa Kencana police station for further action,” he said, adding that the suspect was also tested positive for drug abuse.
Meanwhile, Nasri said another suspect, believed to be a drug dealer, was picked up during an operation at Kampung Merabung, Tungku.

During the 12.30am operation, the team raided an unnumbered house and caught the suspect who was in the sidewalk of the house.
Nasri said the suspect who attempted to flee was later found in possession of 5.19 gm of drugs in 60 various sizes of translucent plastic inside his waist bag.

The suspect and the seizure estimated worth RM778.50 were taken to Tungku police station for further action.
“Initial investigation found that the suspect who tested positive for drug abuse was involve in drug addiction since June, 2017.

The suspect later become a drug dealer on December, 2017, selling drugs to the locals for his daily income,” he said.
Nasri added that both cases are being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
