Python caught in Kota Belud chicken coop

KOTA BELUD: The mysterious disappearance of 15 chickens over the past two months was finally answered when a 3.2 metres python was caught in a chicken coop near a house at Kg Tanjung Pasir, here, Wednesday.
The 2.30pm incident was noticed by fruit vendor, Hutan Bangsa, 56, and his friend, upon returning home from work at the tamu in Inanam.

He said they will usually leave home for three days and two nights to go down to the tamu in Inanam and Manggatal.
He said the disappearance of his chickens had prompted him to think that it had been stolen.
His initial assumption was proven wrong when he witnessed his chickens being devoured by the reptile, prompting him to alert the Civil Defence Force for help.
Kota Belud Civil Defence Force Officer, Nazura Marlinda Sabran said a 2.55pm distress call prompted four personnel to the scene.

The 6.5kg reptile was captured by the team who found it inside the chicken coop with a swollen belly.
The operation ended about 3.15pm when the snake was subsequently released into a forest away from the residential area. – R. Gonzales
