Over 100 students attend design thinking workshop
TAMBUNAN: A total of 115 students from the Tambunan Community College Final Semester attended the two-day Design Thinking 101 Workshop held at the Solibog College Campus Rugading Hall here, recently.

The workshop was co-organised by the Community College and the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC).

The participation of the final semester students is one of the college’s efforts in helping students develop their potential in line with one of the community college’s educational mission of producing holistic, entrepreneurial and balanced graduates.

A spokesperson for the programme said that the workshop was a fundamental approach for students in exploring the world of entrepreneurship and innovation in keeping up with today’s technology.

It is an initiative of the Student Development Unit, the Innovation Unit and the Student Entrepreneurship Unit for final students’ preparation before going into industry training.

The workshop was managed by Jean Ivy Denis, Weil De Jordan Libumbun and Frynshica Justin who is a participant of the Magic Ecosystem Builder 3.0 Programme located at MAGIC, Cyberjaya, Kuala Lumpur.

“Among the interesting things in the workshop were the participants who were asked to come up with innovations based on the problems they faced throughout the course of being the students and the various innovations they were able to convey.

“Arnold Jacob and Arthur Mathew were selected as Best Male participants, while Nur Hafeezah and Haslinda were selected as Best Female participants,” she said.

The spokesperson said the organisation was also seen as a step opener for the Community College and MAGIC in its efforts to introduce and apply Design Thinking in entrepreneurship and innovation to students and to the local community.

“Various efforts and activities will be carried out for students at community colleges so that they will be exposed to a wide range of skills besides three full-time certificates namely; Certificate in Agrotechnology, Certificate in Tourism and Adventure and Certificate of Maintenance of Four Wheels. Drive,” he said.
