SESB starts mobile counter service for rural folks

Tenom: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) has started its mobile counter service to make it easy for the rural folks to pay their electricity bills and deal in related matters with the utility service provider.

SESB General Manager (Finance), Lisa Wan Siew Han, said the mobile facility provides a scheduled service for 31 SESB registered subscribers at Kampung Pangi, here.

Before this the villagers have to go all the way to Tenom to settle their electricity bills.

“SESB hopes subscribers of its services in the village and surrounding areas will make full use of the mobile facility to pay their electricity bills to avoid disconnection of supply.

“Other dealing with SESB like bill management and inquiry, as well as eKasih and assisted rural wiring scheme (ARWS) can also be done at the mobile facility,” she told reporters.

SESB also offered scheduled mobile services at other remote areas in Sipitang, Keningau as well as islands in Beluran, Sandakan, Kota Kinabatangan, Kota Belud and Semporna.

At the same time, SESB will continue to increase its effort to introduce new methods for the convenience of its customers like the 24-hour payment kiosks at its headquarters and branch offices in Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Tuaran, Beaufort, Kota Marudu, Papar, Keningau, Labuan and Sandakan Municipal Council (SMC).

Payment can also be made via online banking Maybank2u, CIMB Clicks, HSBC, Public Bank, Ambank, Kuwait Finance House, Alliance Bank, Agro Bank, BSN, Pos Malaysia Berhad, MBF ‘Click & Pay’ and Bank Kerjasama Rakyat.

Besides that, electricity bills can also be settled through cash deposit machines at BSN, Maybank, Alliance Bank Berhad and Public Bank Berhad.

For customers in areas which do not have internet access, electricity bill payment can also be done via BSN and Bank Islam Berhad’s Short Messaging System (SMS), while MBF credit card and MasterCard holders can make payment through MBF “Call & Pay” by dialling 088-246633.

“Electricity bills can also be paid via the Boost app and also at Petronas and Shell petrol stations, 7-Eleven, Orange using e-Pay which have SESB logo,” she said.

SESB also have payment agents like Pos Malaysia, Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Alliance Bank, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Bank Kerjasama Rakyat, Agro Bank, Bank Islam Berhad and CIMB. “All these are part of SESB’s continuous effort to win the heart of our clients and give value-added services to them,” she said. Tenom SESB Manager, Mohd Das Risin and Lennard Molvin Alsson, its Finance Executive for Interior Zone - Keningau, among others, were also present. Meanwhile, Kg Pangi villagers welcomed the government’s effort, especially though SESB, to provide mobile counter service at their village that makes their life much easy, especially when dealing with the utility provider. This is considering that the distance from Kg Pangi to Tenom township, which although is only about 11 km but have to use the twice daily train services due to the absence of road. Kg Pangi Village Community Management Council (MPKK) Chairman, Jaidi Lila, 28, said they are thankful to the Government, especially SESB, for the initiative.

Manggang Ingkim 74, who was formerly a Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) chairman, said that was the best services provided to them so far.

“We support the government for making changes for the benefit of the people, looking after the welfare of the people and ease the people’s problems,” he said, adding they are also happy that they can now meet face-to-face with SESB officials without having to leave their village.
