KENINGAU: Nominated State Assemblyman, Datuk Loretto Sipin Padua, said the role of education has shifted from its traditional function.Students no longer just go to school to be educated but also trained as the heirs of the country and to be the human capital of knowledge and morals.ADVERTISEMENT
He said in line with this, the current education system has always had its policies, innovations and strategies in realising the desire to improve the quality of the country’s education.
“This reform is indeed demanding that the school is ready to achieve its goals. Some scholars have stated that there is no success as sweet as honey, without a single pinch of effort,” he said in his speech when officiating the Awards and Student Appreciation of SMK Bingkor at the school hall here, Thursday.
Loretto said various efforts are being made to make the students a scholar and prepare the younger generation with the needs of the 21st century to ensure successful outcomes in various fields.
He said as parents, they need to reflect on themselves without to surrender the responsibility to the teachers and the school.ADVERTISEMENT
“Today’s students are a valuable asset and will make our country proud. Parenting, guidance and encouragement in all aspects of life are very important.
“Their academic achievement alone is not enough, but the development of the co-curriculum as well as the personality aspects need to be given equal attention,” he said.

He said the school’s leadership and teaching staff could change, but the organisation must be defended no matter who led it. The success of a school always depends on the commitment and close cooperation of the school community.
Loretto believes the event is in line with the goal of encouraging students to continue to strive for excellence in all areas and it is hoped that excellence will not end here.
“Keep up the legacy of excellence as long as life is in the body,” he added.
At the event, about 250 students including teachers received appreciation wards. This is also included the outstanding students in the PT3, SPM, STPM and other awards which involved student excellence in their respective classes, academic, co-curriculum and others.Stay up-to-date by following Daily Express’s Telegram channel.
