 Man seriously injured as car rams into Ranau house
RANAU: One person was seriously injured while four others suffered minor injuries when the vehicle they were in skidded and rammed into a house in the wee hours of Sunday.

In the 3.30am incident near SK Lohan Ranau in Kg Lohan, the driver of the Proton Saga Iswara carrying five people - three men and two women aged between 19 and 25 – was believed to have lost control. 

“The car crashed onto the shoulder of the right-hand lane before ramming into a private home,” said Ranau Police Chief DSP Mohd Shahrul Datuk Abdul Wahab.

He said initial investigations revealed the vehicle was heading towards Kg Lohan Ulu from town. 

“The impact completely damaged one concrete portion of the house. Fortunately, no one inside the house was injured,” he said. 

The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Meanwhile, Ranau Fire And Rescue Department Chief Ridwan Mohd Taib said the department received an emergency call about 3.48am and rushed a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engine and one Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle with six personnel led by PB Farro Rynson to the scene.

“Upon arriving, they evacuated five victims found trapped inside the car before they were sent in an ambulance to Ranau Hospital,” he said.
