LAHAD DATU: A 54-year-old illegal immigrant was detained by police, Monday, for having 9.15gm of Syabu worth RM1,372.50.
District Police Chief, ACP Nasri Mansor said the unemployed suspect was detained during Op Tapis near a quarry in Kampung Busul, Jalan Silam.

Nasri said following a raid on an unnumbered house, they detained the suspect who was in the living room.
During inspection, the suspect handed a container containing 19 packets filled with substance believed to be Syabu and aluminium foils.
“Further inspection on the house found nothing illegal and the suspect as well as the seizure were taken to the Lahad Datu Police Headquarters for further action.

“The suspect who came from the Philippine was also tested positive for drug abuse,” he said, adding that the case will be investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. – Efa Rizan
