Need to adjust Kolombong manhole cover, strengthen its base

CITY Hall is urged to not only raise the position of the manhole cover at the road junction into Lorong Kacang Tanah 1, from Jalan Kolombong, but also to fortify its base.
“I noticed not only the metal cover is not at par with the road surface but also a substantial hole has formed at its base,” said CHRIS, who frequents the stretch to reach shops at the nearby industrial estate.

He feared the manhole will collapse given the high number of heavily laden lorries plying on the stretch daily.
“The weight of such vehicles will certainly affect the structure in the long run,” he said.
He said a large sinkhole may form at this section of the road should the foundation of the manhole is weakened by the current rainy season.
“I hope the frequent heavy rain will not deteriorate its condition,” he added.

A City Hall spokeswoman assured that its staff at the relevant department would be notified about the matter soon as possible.
