LABUAN: A 21-month-old toddler drowned after falling into the sea through an opening of a dilapidated water village house in Sebor, Saguking, here, Wednesday night.

Labuan Police Chief Supt Muhamad Farid Ahmad said the parents of the girl, Nor Saidah Abdul Said, found their daughter floating in the water under their house about 11pm while searching for her.

“The toddler is believed to have fallen through a fragile part of the plywood wall of the bedroom,” he said.

The girl was alone in the bedroom, said Muhamad Farid, adding that her parents were in the living room then.

He said the parents pulled her out of the water and tried to revive her but failed and took her to the Labuan Nucleus Hospital.

The hospital confirmed that the girl had drowned, he said.
