Kota Kinabalu: Jelius Ating will lead team NABT SS90 against team Penampang Proper in the final of the Sabah Unity League (Liga Perpaduan) Mixed Veterans championship at Penampang Stadium tomorrow (Sunday) at 3pm.

The Tambadaus head coach with the company of many former State players as teammates including his assistant Burhan Ajui as well as former national call-up Andrew Laban are the hot favourites to claim the title.

They booked their place in the final with a 2-0 win over Telaga in the semi-final following a 3-1 victory over RRB in the last eight while their opponents thrashed Kapazan 5-0 in the quarterfinal before beating PGA 3-1 in the semi-final.

Organising chairman Edwin Jomiji urged football fans to come in big numbers and give their support to the two teams.

“It is going to be an explosive final between the two teams. SS90 may have the upper hand with their star players but Penampang Proper are no pushovers based on their performance throughout the championship.

“I hope all football fans will come and give moral support to their teams as the match is expected to be challenging and entertaining,” he said on Friday.

About 20 teams from throughout the State participated in the championship with a total prize money of RM25,000 plus medals and trophies. The guest of honour at the closing ceremony is Club President Datuk Richard Jomiji who is expected to give away the prizes.
