Initiative by Info Dept fosters patriotism

RANAU: The initiative by Information Department in fostering patriotism among the people through the Komuniti Harapan Malaysia (KHM) and Kelab Malaysiaku is significant in maintaining peace and harmony within the society.

Paginatan Assemblyman Datuk Abidin Madingkir said efforts to foster high spirit of patriotism and to shape one’s identity must be perpetuated throughout the society through KHM, especially among students through Kelab Malaysiaku.

“Through KHM, a generation that has a high spirit of nationalism and understand about the government’s agendas in unity among the people indirectly make the people valuable to religion, race and nation.

“On the other hand, the Kelab Malaysiaku is a platform that exposes the younger generation to the practice of democracy, freedom of speech and mind exploration with the sole purpose of providing insight and appreciation of government policy,” he said.

Abidin said this when officiating at the Majlis Apresiasi Sepakat@Komuniti Daerah Ranau organised by Information Department Ranau at Lohan Rest House recently.

The event saw participation from members of KHM from nine divisions namely KHM Kg Karanaan, KHM Kg Kibbas, KHM Perancangan, KHM Bondu Tuhan, KHM Kg Libang, KHM Kg Lohan, KHM Kg Bongkud, KHM Pekan Ranau and KHM Kg Terelabou.

The event was also participated by members of the Kelab Malaysiaku which involves students from four main secondary schools here namely SMK Mat Salleh, SMK Kundasang, SMK Ranau and SMK Lohan. Also present were District Officer Mohd Yassin Ibrahim, Parliamentary Chief Liaison Officer Lajim Momen, Ranau Information Department Chief Yaacob Hamud, Community Development Leader (PPM) Paginatan Hisyamudin Harun and PPM Karanaan Awasi Ghanie.
