Prophet’s birthday to be celebrated with a Grand Assembly cum Procession

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: “Meneladani Muamalat Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalam” or Exemplifying the Behaviour of Prophet Muhammad is this year’s theme for the Brunei national-level Maulidur Rasul (Prophet’s Birthday) Celebrations, Grand Assembly and Procession ceremony.To ensure the smooth running of the celebration, a full rehearsal was held on Thursday morning. It was understood that 13,000 participants from 131 teams or contingents will be involved in the grand assembly.

For this year, all participants will use the same procession route as last year with an estimated distance of 2.3km.

Present to view the rehearsal was Brunei Minister of Religious Affairs, Pehin Udana Khatib Dato’ Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Dato’ Paduka Haji Awang Othman and President of the Majlis Adat Istiadat Negara, Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz Bin Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar.

Also present at Thursday’s rehearsal was the ministry’s Deputy Minister, Pengiran Dato’ Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dato’ Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Orang Kaya Maharaja Lela Haji Yussof.

The ceremony will be held on Saturday morning at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien public grounds, here.

Maulidur Rasul is a religious event celebrated with grandeur to mark the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) every 12th of Rabi’ al-awwal (lunar March 12) of the Islamic Hijri calendar. At the same time, similar assemblies and processions to mark the Prophet’s birthday will also be held in four districts nationwide, with a special focus at the above venue.
