‘Students can improve fitness, mental intelligence via sports’
TENOM: Students involvement in sport activities besides being part of the school’s co-curriculum, can also help improve physical fitness and mental intelligence, said Kemabong Assemblyman Jamawi Jaafar.

He said sports activities can also educate students to be disciplined.

“Sports activities are seen as a platform to help balance the physical and mental fitness of every students.

“They are not only healthy, but also through training or events it helps them to become more disciplined by following the rules provided,” he said when officiating the 49th Schools Sport Council Championship (MSS) Zon 5 Kemabong held at Sport Complex here, Thursday.

His speech was read by his Community Development Leader Burnley Balang.

Jamawi said sports activities are also a great platform for educating students to develop high fighting spirit to meet the challenges in academic achievement.

“If in a sport activity students are trained to work as a team to achieve victory, which is important while they are in school and in addition to achieving academic success, this spirit also educates them to unite,” he said.

Jamawi, who is also the Chairman of the Government Support Club, asked parents to support their children who are involved in sports activities.

“The involvement of children in co-curriculum activities such as sports benefits them from wasting time and being stuck in unhealthy activities that may affect their future,” he said.
