KK skybridge likely to be opened next year

KOTA MARUDU: The suspended skybridge in Kota Kinabalu will likely be opened for use next year.
State Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Peter Anthony (pic) said the skybridge is already completed but certain issues need to be sorted out before it can be opened for use.

He said he has referred the issues to the authorities to resolve.
“The bridge is ready but there are certain documentation issues involving the law. We leave it to the authorities to resolve.
“I understand that the contractor undertaking the project has some problems, so the work of submission to the State Government has been delayed due to this problem.
“They, including the State Attorney, are working on it and hopefully it will be resolved soon,” he said after officiating the Marudu Got Talent Selection (MGTS) Grand Final Charity Dinner 2019 at the Community Hall, here, Saturday.

Organised by the Pertubuhan Kadazan Dusun Murut (KDM) Malaysia, in collaboration with the MGTS and Borneo Broadcasting Committee members, the event included magic shows, singing and dancing, and traditional music, among others.
Also present were Tandek Assemblywoman Datuk Anita Baranting, Tanjung Kapor Assemblyman Chong Chen Bin, Warisan Kota Marudu Division Head Majamis Timbuong and Kota Marudu District Officer Arnold Joibi.

Anthony said the same goes for the bus terminal in Kota Kinabalu, which currently is not fully operational.
He said he will bring the issue to a meeting soon to discuss how best to resolve it.
In addition, Anthony also raised traffic congestion issues in the State Capital, especially during the rainy season.
“Although the second phase of the 6km flyover at Jalan Lintas has been opened recently, there are some barriers when one reaches Lintas.
“This is due to the position of the U-shaped flyover that is supposed to be ready by the appointed time but has to be put on hold due to concerns of some residents in the area.
“This has somehow affected congestion in Lintas area. However, I have asked the Public Works Department to get help from the traffic police,” he said.
