'Ministry can work with radio station to deliver govt policies'
KENINGAU: Sabah Rural Development Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick said his Ministry is willing to collaborate with KeningauFM in activities which deliver government policies and programmes especially in rural development.

In this regard, he suggested that the broadcasting station conduct more activities that involve people at the grassroots level especially in rural areas.

“My Ministry and related agencies are very supportive of this radio station (KeningauFM) which not only provides the right information and entertainment to listeners but also promote local music and songs.

“KeningauFM can also help to convey information or programmes that are being held in the villages and schools, among others and also help promote tourism products and rural innovation products,” he said.

He said this when opening the Sedekad KeningauFM 2019 at Keningau community hall recently.  Benedick who is Kadamaian Assemblyman, said the roles and services provided by the radio station need to be recognised and taken advantage of by the public for mutual benefit.

“I understand that this programme is being held to celebrate KeningauFM’s 10th anniversary. The programme is also to appreciate the support by listeners in the interior after the radio station was established in 2009,” he said.

He said good relations between KeningauFM, listeners and strategic partners are crucial to ensure that government policies are delivered to the targeted group.

“After 10 years of KeningauFM broadcast in interior areas, many events have been carried out and many efforts have been made including the implementation of community programmes in remote areas as well as engaging the public in large events.

“10 years is a long period and it certainly brought KeningauFM to the forefront of today’s challenges especially with the emergence of various applications in addition to the younger generation inclination towards social media,” he said.

Benedick hope that through the radio programme, the public will be able to understand and continue to support KeningauFM as one of the leading media outlets that believes in the authenticity of information and news.

Meanwhile, the Sedekat KeningauFM Concert featured performances by local artists that include Francis Landong, Atmosfera band, Sharin Amud Shapri, Mary Intiang Sumarli and The Sistar.

Also present were Assistant Minister of Sabah Rural Development-cum-Liawan Assemblyman, Rasinin Koutis, Sabah Broadcasting Director, Datu Mohd Julaspi, Keningau District Officer, Hassan Mahali and KeningauFM Manager, Ivy Rudolph.
