Suggestion to ease Manggatal traffic jam

A SUGGESTION to ease the more than a mile-long traffic jam along Jalan Tuaran, in Manggatal, during the evening peak hours has been submitted to City Hall.
A proposal to convert an existing single-carriage village road in Kampung Kembirian into a bypass that connects users from Jalan Tuaran into Jalan Tuaran Bypass is said to be a feasible solution to minimise the congestion leading up to Tebobon from Manggatal town.

“I noticed that a bottleneck happens at the two traffic light junctions in Tebobon which often affects the traffic flow from Manggatal town towards that area every evening, especially on weekdays,” said MARK, who lives at a nearby village.
He said the situation became worse ever since the opening of the flyover at Mile 5½.
“The flyover helps to streamline the traffic flow by helping to reduce congestion around Inanam and Kolombong areas but, unfortunately, it creates a bottleneck at the traffic light junction in Tebobon,” he added.
He said the proposed bypass would cut driving time substantially when users are able to use the stretch to reach Jalan Tuaran Bypass.

“Alternatively, they can also reach Jalan Tuaran from that main road,” he added.
He urged the local authorities to consider upgrading the stretch to enable big vehicles to ply though as well.

“If they can construct a bypass at Kampung Dombung, why can’t they do the same at this recommended road?” he asked.
A City Hall spokeswoman, when contacted recently, said the proposal would be studied for its practicality.

“Allow us to look into it first because many aspects must be taken into consideration on such matter,” she added.
The outcome will be submitted to Hotline later. (OV)
