Wiring to blame for streetlights outage
WIRING fault is the reason for the entire streetlights along the newly-completed Pan Borneo road project in Penampang being inoperative for more than two weeks recently.

A Penampang District Council spokesman, when contacted, said its team of technicians was immediately asked to check the electrical component for the facilities.

“Bad weather condition hampered our efforts to carry out the repairs,” he added.

He, however, said it attended to the problem in the afternoon of Nov 6.

“We are monitoring the condition of the streetlights at the moment to avoid similar fault from recurring,” he added.

JASON, who frequents the main road to reach his house in Kampung Limbanak, said the newly-constructed dual-carriage-roads must be lit without fail due to the high traffic flow there at night.

“Pedestrians, cyclists and even livestock are often seen crossing the busy road in the late hours,” he added.

Apart from that, he said some errant motorists even misused the straight road by going beyond the permitted speed limit in that hour.  (OV)
