SANDAKAN: Christian students are encouraged to take up Bible Knowledge (BK) for their SPM examination.
Upko Libaran Division Chairman Dr Peter Jr Naintin said there are at least three benefits from taking up BK, that is, learning about positive core values, guidance for good life and best way to become more successful young leaders.

"We were indeed thankful to Upko President, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, especially on the contribution of 50 text books (the Gospel of Luke and the Acts) to students of St Michael Secondary School who are taking the subject.
“This is a continuation of Upko’s efforts and challenges derived from our Honorary President Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, whose objective is to include BK as an elective subject in SPM,” he said when distributing BK text books to Christian students of St Michael Secondary School, recently.
Peter said Upko was one of the organisations which had worked hard for Bible Knowledge to be taught again in schools.
“From the very beginning, we have found out that many Christian students were not keen to take Bible Knowledge for SPM but since we launched various awareness campaigns, more and more Christian students are taking up the subject,” he said.

Peter who is also Upko Supreme Council member said he was touched to note the efforts and commitment of St Michael Secondary School principal Henley Liew, BK teacher Jus Chang Nyuk Ying and Pastor Margaret Chong for arranging the programme.
Meanwhile, he urged more Christian students to participate in Bible Knowledge Quiz and Christian Student Fellowship-Leadership Camp next year.
