Tambadaus hopeful of getting right players

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Tambadaus are continuing their search for the right foreign import players in preparation for the team’s challenge in the Super League next season.
Sabah Football Association (Safa) President Datuk Peter Anthony said they are still unable to find the right targets since the trials started a month ago.

“We are expecting more players to come for trials in the coming weeks and at the moment we have three players from South Korea, Sweden and Bosnia who are trying their luck here.
“Our main target is look for a playmaker in midfield, and a striker with lethal finishing up front to further strengthen the team. Hopefully we will be able to get the right players to complete the team by this month,” he said on Wednesday at the team’s training session at Likas Stadium.
He was able to observe South Korean midfielder Choi Jeong-Han and Swedish striker David Rickard in action while another player from Bosnia, Muamer Svraka only expected to arrive later on Wednesday night.
The 32-year-old David, who stands at 187cm had played in several top clubs in his home country and Jeong-han,30, played in Japan and Thailand before, while Muamer, 31 had played in Indonesia.

All three are likely to be given a few days to showcase their abilities as did the two earlier players, Brazilian Laerci Gomes Costa and Argentine Jose Augusto Sardon who failed to make an impression last month.

Meanwhile, the players’ contracts are set to finish at the end of the month and all the local players and current foreign imports Rodoljub Paunovic, Aguinaldo Mendes and Park Tae Su are still training with the team while the injured Ahmet Atayev was absent on Wednesday.
