Ranau pupil mauled by dog, in critical condition

RANAU: A primary one pupil is now in critical condition after being mauled by a dog while going home from school, near here, on Friday.
The SK Lipasu pupil was with several friends when they were attacked by the dog, but the others managed to flee and ran 300 metres back to the school.

While she was being mauled by the dog, her friends notified the school’s security guard, who rushed to rescue the girl and carry her back to the school.
Director of Sabah Education Dr Mistrine Radin, who confirmed the incident, said the victim walked home from school because her father was late to pick her up that fateful day.

“The incident happened outside the school compound, fortunately, swift action by the security guard managed to save the child. Shortly afterward, teachers at the school rushed the victim to Ranau Hospital," she said.
Ranau Police Chief DSP Mohd Shahrul Datuk Abdul Wahab said no police report was lodged so far and the victim is being treated at Likas Hospital.
