Gang-rape: Remanded Tawau students get to take SPM exam

TAWAU: Seven Form Five students who was remanded three days for allegedly raping a Form Two student at a secondary school here will be released on police bail to enable them to take their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
District police chief ACP Peter Umbuas said the case is considered solved with the arrests and investigation.

“After the remand expires tomorrow (Monday), they will be released on police bail to enable them to sit for the SPM. At the same time, police are collecting all evidence before the case is brought to court,” he said.
The victim had been sent to the district hospital for medical examination.
A police report was lodged by the victim’s mother at 3.30pm on Friday.
In the 11am incident that day, the victim was found half nude by a female teacher in a switch room of the school.

The crying victim told her teacher that she was raped by two students (suspects), while four others asked her to perform oral sex while another suspect watched the acts of his friends.

Peter said this when met by media during the Community Policing PDRM Tawau 2019 Fun Ride & Fun Run at IPD Tawau on Sunday. About 600 took part in the event which consisted of two categories, namely running 6km and cycling for 30km.
He said the event is a good platform to strengthen relationship between police and the community in preventing crime.
State Education Director Dr Mistrine Radin is saddened by the incident which happened in school said that her department would provide full cooperation to the police.
